The analysis of the profound and original motivations that underlie the movement of the Knights of the Temple, as well as the historical and social context, are essential elements not only for understanding the spirit of knighthood but also for recognising the reasons for the rapid spread of this organisation and its role in the military, economic, and spiritual history of medieval Europe. This book represents an exercise, and effort that the author hopes will be understood by the reader and eventually appreciated, since the person who writes this pursues, in everyday life, a profession that is not that of a professional historian.
