Biophysics is the science of physical principles underlying all processes of life, the energetics, dynamics and kinetics of biological systems. §This fully revised 2nd edition provides the introductory background needed for fundamental training in biophysics and, in addition, offers a great deal of advanced biophysical knowledge. It spans the whole area of life from a biophysical view, from the molecular, cellular and organismic level to the environmental factors. In response to the enormous progress, especially in molecular biophysics, the author integrated new results, techniques and developments and appropriately accents the importance of environmental physical factors and their influences on the living world. These include topics such as protein folding and dynamics, membrane assembly and transport, cells in electric fields, noise-enhanced processes as well as health aspects of radio- and microwave electromagnetic fields and photo-biophysics.
