A cop's life, risky and dirty, meet Freeman Jane, having passed the academy, is a green rookie. College hadn't properly prepare him for the tough streets of BOSTON. Gangs reigned, corruption flowed, and drugs were plentiful, yet he prevailed. A novice, WHOM do you TRUST; everyone has an angle or hidden agenda. Walking the beat exposes one to harshness of humanity; an oath taken to PROTECT and SERVE is tested, survival becomes the ultimate objective. Disappointment and disgust is expected, repeatedly encountered, and realization seeds. Once naïve, Jane develops a gritty edge, removes the rose-colored glasses, sees the world as it is, and knows "It is, what it is." Not wanting to become a statistic becomes shrewd; always staying one-step ahead, and keeps his finger on the trigger. His motto: "Better to be judged by TWELVE, than carried by SIX."
