It's a medical horror tale, the protagonist is a 17-year-old junior in high school, who notices a bruise, he is diagnosed with leukemia. There are 3 strong female characters who are important in his journey, his single mother, Betty, his new girlfriend Nancy Peters and his doctor, Sandra Gardner. We follow him as he enters an alien world of pediatric cancer care. It is mystifying and complicated. After some time, he becomes oriented to the new surroundings as his treatment begins. A roller coaster ride. The first half of the story might happen to any teen who develops leukemia, a very rare disease. But then nefarious forces come into play, because of greed and delusion.A gene laboratory introduces mutations that change Richard, physically and mentally. An investigative reporter must dig deeply to find an antidote to his cure. It is a story of perseverance and strength, character and support. Along the way, there is danger, romance, sex, humor and suspense.
