The Delicate Specimen, is a timely literary piece that espoused atypical negative living conditions and challenges a girl child frequently faced with, on her journey from the womb to adulthood, till she leaves the world. Several challenges do befall a girl child amongst many troubles threatening her chances of survival from the day one of conception, she has little or slim chances of surviving the decision to allow her to be born or to be terminated, just because she is the xx chromosome: termination of the female foetus called foeticide, is posing a huge threat on the survival of the girl child and has become a disturbing concerns of a number of girl child advocates in many of the third world countries across the world, where barbaric, erroneous negative believes and practices against her are prevalent e.g. in Asia, and underprivileged communities and various African society. Added to that is generations of biases that favor bearing a male child over a girl child.
