Kompletný popis

The term "Ruby Ridge" is synonymous, in today's vocabulary, with the 1992 standoff between the FBI and the Weaver family near Ruby Ridge, Idaho. Randy Weaver's wife and 14-year old son (Sammy), along with a United States Marshal lost their lives during the highly publicized standoff. Randy Weaver was a fugitive from justice and while U.S. Marshals were conducting a reconnaissance mission on the Weaver property, gunfire was exchanged killing Marshal Deagan and Sammy Weaver. The FBI responded to the developing standoff with its' elite Hostage Rescue Team, but the FBI on-scene leadership failed to critically assess the situation and the conflict escalated. The failure of the FBI leadership to properly assess the situation and critically analyze their actions resulted in the death of Vicki Weaver. FBI leaders failed to critically analyze initial situation reports, establish appropriate rules of engagement and develop a sound plan to end the standoff. Utilizing critical thinking skills during the initial stages of the crises could have helped deescalate the situation and increased the chances of a peaceful end to the standoff.
