The environment is literally that which surrounds us, our home, our surroundings, our rootedness. It is up to us to preserve it and strengthen it...or to damage and wear it down. This book explores a variety of topics connected to the environment: animal rights, human interaction with nature, pollution, deforestation, fantasy... It views with concern the many actions at various levels that harm Nature and her delicate balance, and that affect all Life, especially those beautiful life forms that bear no responsibility for aggressive development, massive deforestation, or systemic pollution.
The book seeks to both challenge the reader as well as to make the reader realise the vital importance of understanding what humans have been and are doing to the environment, and how, in individual and collective ways, we can make a positive difference. It is when we recognise Earth as our home, our surroundings, our rootedness, that we will do all in our power to preserve her.
