Kompletný popis

The accumulation and storage of large quantities of low-energy positrons is becoming increasingly important in many different fields. To take advantage of the large energy potentials of antimatter, we must find ways to increase the density of antimatter plasmas and make them portable. Micro-Penning-Malmberg traps are proposed for storing much higher densities of antimatter. Lower confining potentials will enable a more transportable storage device which can significantly expand the uses of this energy. This novel design in this book increases positron storage by orders of magnitude through use of an array of microtraps with large length to radius aspect ratio and low confinement voltage. Micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology developed for the microfabrication industry is employed with microtrap arrays fabrication and the limits of maintaining high precision alignment over increasingly tall stacks are explored.
