From The Heart: Poems of Love and Loss

A powerful and inspiring collection of poems dealing with love and loss from the death of her mother who died of a stroke and a dear friend, of cancer, to ageing and to the book's main focus - caring for a spouse while he succumbs to Parkinson's, a degenerative disease.

Joyce Chiu Broadbent has been a psychotherapist for 18 years, counselling and teaching thousands of people as well as becoming a Mindfulness Teacher and Reiki Master, yet in 2016 she had to retire from working with clients because the challenges of her own life were all she could cope with. She dived deeper into writing poetry as a way of handling her own pain and anguish. Words illuminate and heal and she drew strength from them. She came to terms not only with her own mortality and humanity, but also with that of others.

Her husband Mike, who suffers from Parkinson's Disease, fought back and underwent Deep Brain Stimulation at the end of 2016. Inspired by his courage and by calls from students who needed her help, Joyce has not only returned to counselling and teaching, but also produced this heart connecting book of poetry to help others dealing with love and inevitable loss.

Originally planning to publish privately, Joyce was urged by Rachel Kelly (Sunday Times bestselling author of "Black Rainbow - How words healed me - my journey through depression") to give the book a global release and it is now available in both hardback and eBook.
